Tucked away in the serene folds of Carbis Bay, Cornwall, sits Chey An Clegh—a striking blend of coastal modernism and timeless luxury, its inception was the result of one man’s ambition to elevate high-end coastal living: Oliver Robert Burleigh.
Though he is no longer managing the property day to day, Oliver remains involved as he still owns the asset—now operated by Carbis Bay Hotel. Chey An Clegh continues to reflect his unique approach—combining local sensitivity with forward-thinking design. From the ground up, the project was led with intent: not just to build homes, but to shape lifestyle experiences.
A Grounded Start with Big Ambitions
Before stepping into real estate, Oliver began his professional life as an electrician, learning the ins and outs of technical systems and site logistics firsthand. This early trade experience instilled in him an instinctive understanding of how buildings work—not just from an architectural standpoint, but from the perspective of those who live in them.
That foundation paved the way for ORB, his Bristol-based mechanical and electrical contracting firm, which has grown into one of the most respected names in the South West. ORB’s reputation for reliability and precision became a springboard for Oliver’s evolution into full-scale development.
